What happens when a deer try to squeeze itself through deer fence rails instead of jumping over them? Well, he gets stuck like hell!
A similar thing happened recently at a Sheffield apartment complex. An adventurous and fun-loving deer was roaming around the complex when he stumbled upon a line of small metallic deer fences. He was in a playful mood that day and thus instead of jumping over, he just planned squeeze himself through those narrow rails. And naturally ended up in a super tight spot.
Local residents were helpful and on seeing the poor deer stuck, they immediately contacted RSPCA.
According to the RSPCA inspector Kristy Ludlam, the deer thought he will be able to pass through the fence railings. But, unfortunately, he came up with a wrong estimate and should have been tad more careful. She further stated that the deer was lucky with the front part of her body which slid through the fence easily. However, the main reason why he got stuck into the mess was his hips. It was the hips that got caught badly into the fence rails. It was certainly a terrible thing to find the animal struggling hard to free himself and the RSPCA officials immediately got to work.
Initially Ludlam and the team thought they would be able to free the deer with little push and pull. But after a close assessment of the entire situation they found there’s no leeway for that. The gap between the rails was too tight for the deer to relieve himself from the trap. The only solution that was left to them was cut through the heavy metal bars. Ludlam did not delay to contact South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue for help.
As soon as the rescue officials came to the scene, they cut through the rails & Ludlam carefully lifted the stressed animal’s hips and finally he could break free down into the woodlands.
